HARARE – Johnathan Campbell will become the fourth son of a former Zimbabwean player to also feature for the country in international cricket after the batsman was included in the African country’s squad for the forthcoming T20I tour of Bangladesh.
Zimbabwe will play five T20Is against the Tigers on 3, 5, 7 10 and 12 May. The first three matches will be staged in Chattogram and the last two in Dhaka.
New call-up Campbell is the only uncapped player in the 15-man squad, earning selection following fine form in domestic cricket and at March’s African Games in Accra where a Zimbabwe select side bagged the cricket gold medal in the sport’s debut at the games.

The 26-year-old Southern Rocks star is the son of former national team captain Alistair Campbell, who is regarded as one of Zimbabwe’s most naturally gifted batters of the modern era.
Zimbabwe has had three previous pairs of fathers and sons who have represented the country in any or all of the three formats of international cricket – Test, One-Day International and T20I.
These were Andy and Malcolm Waller, Malcolm and Kyle Jarvis as well as Craig and Brad Evans.
Campbell, nicknamed Jonno, is on course to join the list, creating yet another unique Zimbabwean cricket family feat.
In the African Games final in Ghana, the younger Campbell played against 42-year-old Kenyan veteran Collins Obuya, who also played against his father Alistair in his last international back in 2003.
