HARARE – The mystery over a second-string Zimbabwean cricket team’s tour of the United Kingdom has been kind of solved by SportsCast, who can reveal that former national team captain Elton Chigumbura is coaching the side, with batsman Brian Bennett joining after the Chevrons’ Test against Ireland.

The 16-man squad flew out of Harare Sunday night, but the tour programme is still not yet clear. It’s also not known who the captain is.

Brian Bennett, who will play in Zimbabwe’s lone Test in Ireland at the end of the month, will cross over to England after that to join the emerging side.

Bennett – alongside Wessly Madhevere, Tadiwanashe Marumani and Dion Myers – are the only players in the side to have been capped by Zimbabwe in any of the three international formats of the game.

Chigumbura is coaching the side, in the absence of Stephen Mangongo, who didn’t travel. Mangongo is preparing another squad, to host a South African emerging team arriving in Zimbabwe on 30 July.
