HARARE – Zimbabwe rugby international Ngoni Chibuwe has vented his frustration on social media after his Romanian club, the newly-crowned champions CSM Constanta, has failed to pay players and coaching staff for five months.

30-year-old Chibuwe, who hails from Mutare in Zimbabwe and played in Spain before moving to Romania, said 2021-established CSM Constanta has “abandoned” its employees despite winning the the country’s top-flight competition, the Liga Națională de Rugby.

An emotional Chibuwe posted on Facebook on Monday:

Imagine winning the League 🥇 and getting abandoned in a foreign land .

5 months without salaries

2 unpaid bonuses

Meals cut off

Risk of not spending Christmas without family because the club can’t pay your flights .

I will not talk about the shoddy training facilities ,getting injured , putting our bodies on the line just to be disrespected in this manner. (Lucky my savings are solid )

Congratulations “CSM CONSTANTA” for suffocating young peoples dreams you can be proud of yourselves ..

Anyways BIG UP to my teammates /coaches /managers for your resilience 🥇🥂..real warriors .

CSM Constanta has abandoned us they don’t have solutions to the problems at hand and when you go to their offices they just play the victim card no accountability at all…

Classic ..

Anyways on to the next chapter

Chibuwe, who is comfortable at centre or on the wing, last played for Zimbabwe in a World Cup qualification tournament in France in 2022.

Ngoni Chibuwe helped CSM Constanta win the Romanian league title in the club’s second top-flight season.

Away from rugby, the multi-talented Chibuwe is also into music and has his own fashion label.
