HARARE – Former Zimbabwe cricketer Shingi Masakadza has retired from professional cricket, his club Takashinga announced on Monday.
The 38-year-old bowling all-rounder, who last played international cricket over a decade ago, is the middle brother of three cricketing-playing siblings who all represented their country. Former national team captain Hamilton is the oldest while current international Wellington is the youngest.
Shingi Masakadza played five Tests, 16 ODIs and seven T20Is for Zimbabwe – all with modest success – between 2010 and 2014.
At the time of his retirement, Masakadza was still playing club cricket for Harare club Takashinga and provincial cricket for Manicaland Mountaineers. Masakadza has played first-class and limited-overs cricket all his career for Mountaineers, since making his debut for the Mutare-based franchise in 2008.

He was also a one-club man for Takashinga, who posted on Facebook: “End of an Era! 🏏✨
“Takashinga Cricket Club bids farewell to one of our finest, Shingi Masakadza, as he retires from professional cricket. A warrior on the field, an inspiration to many, and a true Takashinga legend. Thank you, Carlo (Masakadza’s nickname), for your dedication and unforgettable contributions to the game. Wishing you all the best in your next chapter!”
