HARARE – Voice Ndou, who featured for Western Province’s women rugby team this past season, is one of the key players in her homeland Zimbabwe’s quest for Olympic Games qualification in the Sevens format of the sport.

Zimbabwe’s Lady Cheetahs will be vying for the single direct slot for Paris 2024 at an African qualification competition in Tunisia this coming weekend on 14 and 15 October.

The Zimbabwean team’s head coach Cyprian Mandenge has picked his 12-member traveling squad, with 23-year-old Ndou – who plays on the wing in the fuller version – heavily tipped to be a leading light in the side.

Ndou was an outstanding player in the University of Western Cape team that gained promotion into the female Varsity Cup for 2024.

The scintillating performances for UWC earned Ndou a Western Province call-up for the Women’s Premier Division in Cape Town.

Zimbabwe’s team to Tunisia is captained by the experienced Delight Mukomondo. The winner of the tournament will qualify directly to the next Olympics in France while second and third place will still have a chance via a Repachage event.
