TRIANGLE – After photos went viral on social media, sports fans in Zimbabwe have been left charmed by the immaculate sports facilities of Triangle Country Club, nestled in the country’s picturesque Lowveld region.

Whilst sporting facilities around the country have declined over the years – both in the big cities and country districts – the members of Triangle Country Club have kept this hidden gem in fine shape, despite no major domestic or international sporting events being held there.

The cricket field – with its spotless pitch and neat outfield – is in better condition than Zimbabwe’s only two Test cricket venues in Harare and Bulawayo.

Frist-class cricket has historically been played at Triangle, and in recent times Zimbabwe’s national team has held training camps there, enticed by the delightful cricket field.

The adjacent rugby field, venue of many memorable districts battles once upon a time, has also been well kept over the years.

So is the golf course as well tennis courts, hockey pitch, bowling green and others. These facilities, nowadays, are mainly used by the members and their associates.

Triangle Country Club is managed by Tongaat Hullett – an agriculture and agri-processing business, focusing on the complementary feedstocks of sugarcane and maize.

The historic club is located in the small-town of Triangle, Lowveld, some 450km from the capital city Harare.

Triangle is officially part of Zimbabwe’s greater Masvingo province.

Sport forms part of the Lowveld’s tradition for many years, and they have produced quite a number of top-class sports stars for the country, including former Zimbabwe rugby captains Costa Dinha and Cleopas Makotose.
