HARARE – Zimbabwe’s newly crowned footballer of the year, Qadr Amini, has broken the internet after he attended the awards ceremony on Friday night with his two wives.
33-year-old midfielder Amini, who is devout Muslim, captained Ngezi Platinum to its historic first Zimbabwean league title following a splendid 2023 season with the team from Ngezi, a small mining district located some 150-km from the capital city Harare.
Amini, a former Zimbabwe national team player, told local reporters that he is a proud polygamist. Both wives are also Islamic.
