HARARE – Contrary to earlier reports, Dave Houghton has continued to take charge of Zimbabwe’s cricket team, and the board hast not met to deal with the crisis of failing to qualify for the T20 World Cup.

Reports were rile at the weekend that 66-year-old former Zimbabwe captain Houghton had been sacked following the disastrous qualification campaign in Namibia where the host and Uganda qualified ahead of ICC full member nation Zimbabwe.

Houghton was spotted on Monday putting players through their paces on Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) board didn’t meet as expected at the weekend, for a meeting where sweeping changes were expected to be made ahead of Ireland’s white-ball tour of the country.

The Irish are already in Zimbabwe for the series.
