While giants Dynamos FC are eyeing a Khama Billiat transfer swoop, two more clubs have joined the race for his signature.

Billiat is poised for a return to his homeland, Zimbabwe, after failing to find a new club since leaving Kaizer Chiefs.

The 33-year-old decided against renewing his contract with The Glamour Boys last year in June. Since then, he has been clubless, with several attempts to find a new home hitting a snag.

The former PSL Player of the Year tried to join Cape Town City FC, but negotiations between his camp and the club crumbled like a deck of cards. He also trained with SuperSport United, but nothing materialised, leaving him desperate to find a new club.

Nevertheless Zimbabwean giants Dynamos FC have been the front-runners to make a Khama Billiat transfer swoop. How much they are offering the midfielder has not been revealed.

But it will be interesting to see how much he will be earning, as he was one of the highest-paid players at Amakhosi.

Two more clubs have entered the race to acquire his highly rated services. The 2023 Zimbabwean Champions Ngezi Platinum Stars are also courting the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns star.

Ngezi Platinum Stars are building up to the next edition of the CAF Champions League, which will be their maiden season in the competition. Another club, Manica Diamonds, is believed to have offered R 370 000 [USD 20 000] for the player.

It remains to be seen which club he will choose, with less than two weeks before the 2024 season starts.

He will hope to end his career on a high note in Zimbabwe’s PSL where he never won anything. Billiat briefly played for Caps United in 2010 before moving to Ajax Cape Town.

In the DStv Premiership, he has a decorated history having won the PSL Player of the Season in 2016.

Among many accolades, he finished as runner-up for the CAF African Player of the Year based in Africa award for 2016. Dennis Onyango was the winner.
