HARARE – Zimbabwe captain Felistus Kwangwa has been recognised as one of the best netball players in the world today after she received the Coaches’ Player of the Year award in England’s Vitality Netball League on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old from Bulawayo, who plays for English club Surrey Storm as a defensive player, skippered Zimbabwe at the 2019 World Cup in Liverpool, England.

She has been with Surrey Storm for two years, improving all the time and going on to impress enough this past season for the top award.

“This award represents a player who has shown the most improvement across the entirety of the 2022 Vitality Super League season,” went the introduction speech as Kwangwa walked to the podium to receive her award on Wednesday night.

“It goes to somebody who has demonstrated grace, quite ability and potential to produce some match-winning performances. When this athlete returned from the summer break, she was fitter, stronger and more determined than ever to put on some solid performances this year.”
