HARARE – Zimbabwe talisman Sikandar Raza has been rewarded for his scintillating form in white-ball cricket after he was signed by Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings on Friday ahead of the 2023 season.

The 36-year-old Pakistani-born star batter, who is also a handy spin bowler, went for 50 Lakhs (roughly US$70 000) in the on-going auction.

Raza Raza will become the fourth Zimbabwean player to feature in the IPL after Tatenda Taibu, Ray Price and Brendan Taylor.

A fifth Zimbabwe player to have been involved with the IPL is Blessing Muzarabani. The tall fast bowler however didn’t play in the tournament as he only signed by Lucknow Super Giants as a net bowler in the 2022 season.
