HARARE – English Premier League club Brighton are reportedly interested in signing highly-rated Zimbabwe international midfielder Marshall Munetsi from the French top-flight league, the UK’s Daily Mail has reported on Wednesday.
The Daily Mail reveals that the 26-year-old Reims midfielder’s statistics have “compared favourably with some of the best midfielders in the country (England),” wrote the British publication.
If the deal materialise, Zimbabwean Munetsi is expected to move for a figure of seven million British Pounds from the French Ligue 1 club.
Munetsi, raised in Mabvuku, one of Zimbabwean capital city Harare’s oldest black townships, scored four goals in 22 games last season for Reims after coming back from injury.
The long-term injury had the powerful midfield enforcer missing Zimbabwe’s participation at the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon early this year.
Munetsi will become the second major signing for Brighton manager Graham Potter if the move to England pulls through.
