HARARE – Zimbabwe has named its squad for two opening Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Kenya and Cameroon in Uganda early September, with Sharif Mussa returning as team manager after a lengthy absence.
Mussa, son of the late Zimbabwean tycoon Mohamed Mussa, is widely respected in football circles in his native Southern African nation for his organisational skills within the national team ranks.
The Zimbabwean team is now under a new coach, Germany’s Michael Nees, who will take charge of the Warriors for the first time against Kenya at Kampala’s Mandela National Stadium on 6 September.
Zimbabwe and Kenya are having to use a neutral venue since they both do not have Fifa-approved stadiums.
The Warriors will then remain in the Ugandan capital to host Cameroon four days later.
